Before there was “Love Spy”, there was… Batman. Released in 1986, “Love Spy” quickly became one of Mike Mareen’s defining tracks – futuristic, dramatic, playful and instantly recognisable. But the song originally existed under the title “Batman”, with completely different lyrics inspired by the comic-book hero. A handful of promotional copies appeared before copyright concerns forced the concept to be abandoned and “Love Spy” was born. Forty years later, we celebrate the track with a special two-part anniversary edition. Part One features brand-new remixes by Luca Dell’Orso, Flemming Dalum, Also Playable Mono and Disco Computer, alongside the original Badman Mix and the highly sought-after “MAKE YOUR OWN MIX” material — rare individual elements created for DJs to rebuild and reinterpret the track themselves. Four new remixes. Two pieces of history. Forty years of LOVE SPY. And we’re only halfway there. Part Two arrives in November with another heavyweight line-up.
